The American side became interested in Ukrainian historical records about the World War II events and contribution of Ukrainians to the victory over the Nazi Germany.

Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Valeriy Chaly said this during events dedicated to the victory over the fascism in the World War II held in Washington on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"I’ve had the opportunity to talk today with many people, including those who work in archives and collect records about the World War II. We have already agreed to work on the exchange of historical data," the diplomat noted.

He stressed that some information about Ukraine's participation in the war was new to Americans.

"Therefore, I think the embassy should work here for America to know more about Ukraine's contribution to the World War II and how Ukrainians heroically defended the future of Europe and the world, what, by the way, is happening now as well," Chaly stressed.
