Witkoff travels to Switzerland for talks with Iran

Ukrinform
U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff traveled to Switzerland to resume technical talks with Iran.

According to Ukrinform, CNN reported this, citing a U.S. official.

The U.S. president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, is also expected to arrive in Switzerland to join the upcoming talks.

Meanwhile, the timing of the new round of consultations remains uncertain. The next phase of negotiations was scheduled to begin on Friday, but was canceled following a new outbreak of violence between Israel and the Hezbollah group in Lebanon.

Witkoff and Kushner previously led negotiations with Iran, which resulted in a memorandum of understanding.

Meanwhile, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance is also ready to travel to the talks at the earliest opportunity, the White House said.

As reported by Ukrinform, Lebanon’s Ministry of Health announced on Friday that at least 18 people had been killed as a result of Israeli strikes on the southern part of the country, while the Israeli military reported the deaths of four soldiers.

Following the escalation of the situation in Lebanon, Israel and Hezbollah resumed the ceasefire, as further escalation could have jeopardized the agreement between the U.S. and Iran.
