NATO summit can result in decision on anti-ballistic defense – Zelensky
Volodymyr Zelensky said this in his evening address, Ukrinform reports
"We discussed with the NATO Secretary General the NATO Summit in Ankara – Ukraine has been invited, and we will be represented. And the key is for the Summit to deliver results for Ukraine. Anti-ballistic defense is one of the potential outcomes," he said.
The President noted that during today's meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council in Kyiv, special attention was paid to this issue.
"We are also doing everything possible to accelerate Europe’s work on its own anti-ballistic capabilities – it is essential that Europe has its own systems, its own missiles for protection. The capacity to build an anti-ballistic system in Europe exists, and all the necessary conditions for production are there as well. Political decisions must be implemented as quickly as possible," Zelensky said.
He expressed gratitude to every country that stands in solidarity with Ukraine on this task. "Europe will truly become stronger when this is achieved. Not if, but when. And it will happen, but time matters greatly, and we must be more agile," the head of state urged.
As Ukrinform reported, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that continued military support for Ukraine will be one of the key topics at the Alliance leaders' next summit.
