Hegseth: US can find way to provide Ukraine with means it needs to defend itself

Washington will find a way to help Ukraine defend itself.

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated this on the sidelines of the Asia Security Summit in Singapore, according to Clash Report, as reported by Ukrinform.

"Where we can help Ukraine, we have. Where we can enable Europe to do more, we have," Hegseth said.

He explained that the United States is changing the way all "important munitions" are produced so that American companies can supply "not just a little bit more, but a lot a bit more across the spectrum."

"Look at the amount of money that has been spent. Europe has stepped up, and Ukraine has been just as, if not more, effective in this process," Hegseth noted.

The head of the U.S. defense department said the United States wants Ukrainians to be able to defend themselves.

The Pentagon chief assured that the United States would find a way to help Ukraine.

He also stressed that the United States continued to learn from Ukraine's battlefield use of unmanned systems and was increasing investment in this area.

Hegseth said that in the U.S. president's 2027 budget, $56 billion would be allocated to ensure dominance in the drone sphere.

He noted Ukraine's ability to scale up production and adapt drone use, adding that the United States had learned a great deal from Ukraine about how it operates.

He said this was a priority for the future and that the United States intended not only to reach parity but to become the best in the world in this field.

As Ukrinform reported, communications adviser to the President Dmytro Lytvyn said that Volodymyr Zelensky had sent an urgent letter to Donald Trump and the U.S. Congress about the critical shortage of air defense systems.

The U.S. government should respond positively to the Ukrainian President's request for additional air defense missiles to protect Kyiv from Russian strikes, said Senator Richard Blumenthal and Congressman Jim Himes, who visited Kyiv this week.
