Ukraine urges UN to condemn Russian terror attack on humanitarian convoy in Kherson region

Ukrinform
Ukraine has called on the United Nations to clearly condemn a Russian terrorist attack on a UN humanitarian convoy in the Kherson region.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha made the appeal on X, according to Ukrinform.

Sybiha said Russian FPV drones targeted UN personnel, including the leadership of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Ukraine, which was delivering humanitarian aid to residents of Kherson.

“We urge the UN and its member states to clearly condemn Russia’s terrorist attack. Humanitarian workers are not a target!” the head of Ukrainian diplomacy stressed.

He added that the attack was not accidental, noting that a clearly marked UN vehicle was attacked twice in two different locations with a significant time gap between the strikes. He also said Russia had repeatedly used similar tactics against Ukrainian cities, targeting rescuers and medical personnel.

“This is Russia’s true attitude toward international law and its own obligations within the UN: deliberately targeting humanitarian personnel working in extremely difficult conditions to assist people in frontline areas,” Sybiha emphasized.

He reported that no one was injured in the attack and thanked local authorities in Kherson for providing support to the UN team.

As reported by Ukrinform, due to worsening security conditions and increased Russian drone attacks, mandatory evacuation of children with their parents has been announced from the settlements of Naddniprianske and Molodizhne in the Kherson community.
