Ukraine has intel Russia sending drones toward Baltic states and Finland - FM Sybiha
This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha at a joint press conference in Kyiv with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaia Kallas, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy noted that he personally, along with representatives of other relevant agencies, is in contact with colleagues from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Finland regarding the drone incidents and is promptly sharing all necessary information.
“I can assure you that we have never directed drones toward these countries. And we are working together with our partners to protect them from such incidents in the future… Furthermore, I can state with certainty that in all these cases, these were entirely deliberate and targeted actions by Russia. We have intelligence data indicating that the Russians are deliberately diverting drones toward the Baltic states with the aim of exploiting these incidents for their own informational and propaganda purposes,” Sybiha said.
He added that Ukraine, together with the countries where the drone incidents occurred, must jointly counter Russian propaganda.
The foreign minister thanked the Baltic and Finnish partners for their clear stance that Russia is the cause of these incidents.
“It is the Russian war that has created all these threats, and it is Russia that must be forced to make peace,” the minister emphasized.
As reported by Ukrinform, two drones fell in southeastern Finland on Sunday: one in Kouvola, the other in Luumäki. The origin of one of the drones has not been determined, but authorities confirmed that the second one is Ukrainian.
Subsequently, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Ukrainian drones were in no way directed toward Finland, that Ukraine had already provided the Finnish side with all necessary information to clarify the circumstances of the UAV crash, and apologized for the incident.
