Zelensky confirms proposal for “Easter truce”
President Volodymyr Zelensky made this statement during an informal meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the European Union member states in Kyiv, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
“I spoke about this yesterday and will repeat it today: we have proposed a ceasefire for the Easter holidays. We hope that the U.S. will support this proposal, and we are awaiting a response from Russia. Tomorrow I will speak with the American team, including on this issue, and we expect results. Everyone needs results,” Zelensky said.
He also expressed gratitude to everyone who supports diplomacy. “We are doing everything to end this war through diplomatic means. But Russia shows no intention of concluding a reliable agreement—everything depends on pressure. I hope that the United States will remain resolute, help bring Russia to a trilateral meeting, and put pressure on it for the sake of peace,” said the head of state.
As reported, during a conversation with journalists at the Bucha Summit, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that a video conference of key negotiators from Ukraine and the U.S. will take place tomorrow with his participation, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte will join them.
