Kremlin reacts skeptically to Zelensky's proposal for Easter truce

Ukrinform
On Tuesday, March 31, the Kremlin gave a skeptical assessment of the Ukrainian president's proposal for an Easter truce in the war, stating that it had not seen any detailed proposals on the matter.

According to Ukrinform, Reuters stated this in an article.

Recently, Zelensky said that Kyiv is open to an Easter ceasefire in the hostilities.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, responding to a question about the Ukrainian president's proposal, made it clear that Moscow is skeptical about the idea, despite the fact that Russia's port of Ust-Luga on the Baltic Sea has been repeatedly struck by Ukraine in recent days.

"In the statements by Zelenskiy that we have read, we have not seen any clearly formulated initiative regarding an Easter truce. Zelensky must take responsibility and make the appropriate decision so that we achieve peace, not merely a ceasefire," Peskov told journalists. He added that "the longer Zelensky delays the higher the price of peace will be for Kyiv."

As Ukrinform previously reported, on March 30, Zelensky stated that Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire in any format, full or energy-related, including a ceasefire for Easter, but without compromising its dignity and sovereignty.
