Hungary must comply with agreements on a loan to support Ukraine for 2026–2027, which it has already approved.

This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, in the arrival and doorstep at the Foreign Affairs Council, an Ukrinform correspondent in Brussels reports.

“This is enforcement of the decisions that have already been made on the leaders level, and Hungary also agreed to this decision,” Kallas stressed in response to a question about how the EU plans to act amid Hungary’s veto on launching a €90 billion loan for Ukraine.

She added that EU leaders – António Costa, President of the European Council, and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission – are dealing with the issue.

“We will have an EU Council meeting at the end of this week, so hopefully we will push Hungary to stick to the agreements that they have also made,” Kallas said.

As Ukrinform previously reported, Emmanuel Macron, President of France, stated that the promise made by leaders of the European Union to provide €90 billion in loans to Ukraine will be fulfilled even if Hungary blocks the first disbursements.
