Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, arrived at the Élysée Palace in Paris for a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.

An Ukrinform correspondent reports this.

“Our main message is to demonstrate that no crisis, no unfolding event, will divert our attention from Ukraine, and that France’s support as a reliable partner will remain steadfast. Those who think that the war in Iran opens a window of opportunity for them are mistaken – they will not be able to exploit this geopolitical context,” the French presidency outlined as the purpose of the visit.

The leaders are expected to discuss three key areas: further support for Ukraine, increasing pressure on Russia, and advancing toward a just and lasting peace with security guarantees.

The Élysée Palace explained that in the first area, they would discuss, in particular, the unlocking of the €90 billion EU loan, energy support for Ukraine, and continued Franco-Ukrainian defense cooperation with a special focus on drones.

The sides will also address work on the 20th package of sanctions against Russia, efforts to combat its shadow fleet, and initiatives within the Coalition of the Willing to achieve a just peace supported by security guarantees for Ukraine.

Following the meeting, Zelensky and Macron are scheduled to hold a joint press conference and a working lunch. Later on Friday, the Ukrainian President will also participate in a discussion with students at Sciences Po (Paris Institute of Political Studies).
