At today's COREPER II meeting in Brussels, the ambassadors of the EU member states approved sanctions against 19 representatives of the Iranian regime.

This was announced on the social network X by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“Today, EU Member States ambassadors approved new sanctions targeting 19 regime officials and entities responsible for serious human rights violations,” Kallas stated.

She added that against the backdrop of the ongoing war in Iran, the EU will defend its interests and prosecute those responsible for the repression.

The EU is also sending a signal to Tehran that “Iran’s future cannot be built on repression,” Kallas stressed.
