Head of Naftogaz tells Macron about consequences of Russian attack on Druzhba oil pipeline

During a meeting between Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko and French President Emmanuel Macron, Serhii Koretskyi, Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, provided the French side with information about the consequences of the attack on the Druzhba oil pipeline.

According to Ukrinform, Koretskyi reported this on Facebook.

"We informed them about the consequences of Russian attacks on Ukraine's oil and gas infrastructure. In particular, we provided comprehensive information about the Russian strike on the Druzhba oil pipeline infrastructure. We described the extent of the damage, the progress of the cleanup, and the current technical condition of the facility after the attack," Koretskyi wrote.

The parties also discussed Ukraine's efforts to strategically transform its energy sector and implement regional energy sustainability plans, which the government is implementing together with the regions and communities.

Separately, they discussed the active participation of French businesses in the development of distributed generation and the strengthening of Ukraine's energy system.

As reported, on March 11, a Hungarian delegation led by State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy Gabor Csepek traveled to Kyiv, where it plans to hold talks on resuming the operation of the Druzhba oil pipeline.

On January 27, Russia struck energy infrastructure in the Lviv region. As a result of the damage, the transit of Russian oil through the Druzhba oil pipeline was halted. According to First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal, the fire damaged most of the internal equipment of the oil pipeline.
