Middle East war could turn into global conflict – Zelensky
According to Ukrinform, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed this view in an interview with Irish journalist Caolan Robertson.
"If the war immediately is not stopped by somebody, then it can be a long war and it can be a world war," Zelensky said.
In his opinion, the world is already very close to a new global war.
"It's really very close to this. I don't see short operations in Iran. I see more global challenges ahead. If the war does not stop before autumn, it will continue," Zelensky said.
He added that Russia could sooner or later send its units to assist Iran.
"The world is not prepared from the technical side. Europe is not prepared enough – only some countries are on the way. Germans are very quick, but that's not enough. There is no longer enough time this year to prepare for such challenges," Zelensky said.
U.S. President Donald Trump suggested earlier that the war in the Middle East could end soon, saying that Iran has "no navy, no communications, no Air Force."
