Zelensky discusses Ukraine’s defense needs and Middle East situation with Macron

The president announced this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

“I spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron. We managed to discuss all the key issues that are currently important for the security of our countries and Europe. In particular, the situation in Ukraine and the key needs of our defense. I informed him about the consequences of Russia's massive strike last night, as well as the events on the front line,” the message says.

As the head of state noted, Ukrainian soldiers have achieved tangible results this winter and held all key defense positions.

“It is important that the joint European agreements on EUR 90 billion in support for Ukraine over the next two years, as well as on a new package of sanctions against Russia, are implemented,” Zelensky emphasized.

The parties also discussed the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region, in particular the situation around Iran and its prospects.

“Emmanuel supported our work for greater security in the region—Ukraine's defense against the Shaheds is indeed the most experienced, and it is Ukraine's experience that can become one of the foundations of a renewed and more effective collective security with all partners,” Zelensky said.

In addition, the head of state added, preparations are underway with France for joint diplomatic efforts in the coming weeks.

As reported by Ukrinform, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky discussed with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni the situation around Iran and challenges in the oil market.
