The death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has not undermined the country’s ability to resist the United States, and his successor could prove to be even more radical.

This opinion was expressed in a comment to Ukrinform by political analyst Maksym Dzhyhun.

“Success for the United States will be directly linked to its ability to break Iran’s state apparatus and force the security bloc to side with protesters, who for now remain in their homes and whom Trump is instructing not to take to the streets, as there will be heavy bombardments of Iran’s key centers of influence,” the expert said.

According to Dzhyhun, Donald Trump had expected that the death of Ali Khamenei would lead to a rapid outcome and trigger the collapse of the entire regime through a domino effect. However, this did not happen.

“At the moment, the situation looks favorable for a protracted process. That is, Khamenei’s death has definitely not destroyed Iran’s capacity to resist the United States. This is not a monarchy where the death of the head of state results in the actual collapse of the political system and chaos,” Dzhyhun noted.

He added that the country’s new supreme leader may turn out to be even more radical than his predecessor.
