Europeans finally understand war against Ukraine, beginning to take responsibility –Applebaum

Historian, author, and Pulitzer Prize winner Anne Applebaum said this in a comment to Ukrinform.

"You know, it seems like you have really strong European backing. For the first time, I think the Europeans really understand the war. You know, the Europeans are going to be closer friends to Ukraine, understand the situation better than the Americans ever did. And, fortunately, they're beginning to step up to the plate," Applebaum said.

At the same time, she noted that the current situation remains highly uncertain.

Applebaum said she plans to publish a book about the current events in the future, but for now considers it very important to stay involved in ongoing developments and write about what is happening as a journalist.

"I describe it, and it seems to have some echo. And so, you know, people read it. […] I don't have time right now to write a book, but I will," the author said.

Applebaum travels to Ukraine several times a year and hopes to make her next visit this spring.
