Zelensky refuses Moscow talks: “Cannot meet in aggressor’s capital”
He made the statement while responding to journalists’ questions, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“I cannot come to negotiate with Putin in Moscow, the capital of the country that is the aggressor in this war. We are ready to support proposals from the United States to meet anywhere: in America, Europe, neutral countries – any state except the Russian Federation and Belarus,” Zelensky said.
He emphasized that Belarus also cannot serve as a venue for negotiations, as it is an ally in Russia’s offensive against Ukraine.
Previously, on January 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s aide Yury Ushakov stated that Moscow was ready to consider direct talks between Putin and Zelensky and invited the Ukrainian President to Moscow.
