Following Russia's massive nighttime strike on Ukraine on February 7, during which more than 400 drones and nearly 40 missiles were used, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decision to impose new sanctions against Russia's military-industrial complex and financial sector.

The president announced this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

“Overnight into Saturday, Russia carried out another massive attack on Ukraine, deploying over 400 drones and nearly 40 missiles of various types,” he noted.

Zelensky stressed that the production of these weapons would be impossible without critical foreign components, which the Russians continue to obtain in circumvention of sanctions.

“We are introducing new sanctions precisely against such companies – component suppliers, as well as missile and drone manufacturers. I have signed the relevant decisions, Zelensky stated.

Also, he signed another decree imposing sanctions against the Russian financial sector.

According to him, the list includes companies through which payments are made for the supply of components for the production of Russian missiles and drones. Sanctions have also been imposed on structures that support the Russian cryptocurrency market and mining operations.

“Some of these decisions will be included in the European Union’s 20th sanctions package, which is already in its final stage. We continue synchronization with our partners and increase pressure on the aggressor,” Zelensky emphasized.
