US President Donald Trump discussed ending Russia's war against Ukraine during a phone call with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to Ukrinform, Trump stated this on the social media platform Truth Social.

Trump said it was an honor to speak with the Indian prime minister, whom he called one of his "greatest friends."

"We spoke about many things, including Trade, and ending the War with Russia and Ukraine," he said.

He added that agreements had been reached that would help bring the war in Ukraine to an end.

"He [Modi] agreed to stop buying Russian Oil, and to buy much more from the United States and, potentially, Venezuela. This will help END THE WAR in Ukraine, which is taking place right now, with thousands of people dying each and every week!" Trump emphasized.

He also announced the conclusion of a trade agreement between the United States and India, "whereby the United States will charge a reduced Reciprocal Tariff, lowering it from 25% to 18%."

At the same time, according to Trump, India will continue to "reduce their Tariffs and Non Tariff Barriers against the United States, to ZERO."

He also wrote that the Indian prime minister committed to "BUY AMERICAN" in significantly larger volumes, in addition to the fact that India has already spent "over $500 BILLION DOLLARS of U.S. Energy, Technology, Agricultural, Coal, and many other products."

As Ukrinform previously reported, in early January Trump threatened India with higher tariffs if New Delhi failed to meet Washington's demand to limit purchases of Russian oil.

Since the beginning of the year, India has asked oil refineries to disclose weekly information on purchases of Russian and American oil, as New Delhi seeks to conclude a trade agreement with Washington.
