Czech Senate approves two resolutions in support of Ukraine at its first plenary session this year — Vystrčil
This was stated by Miloš Vystrčil, President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, in an interview with Ukrinform.
According to him, the upper house of the Czech Parliament approved two resolutions in support of Ukraine at its first meeting this year.
“The first concerned the Coalition of the Willing in the context of Prime Minister Andrej Babiš confirming that the Czech Republic will continue to coordinate the shelling initiative,” Vystrčil said.
He noted that the second resolution rejects the anti-Ukrainian statements of the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Tomio Okamura, regarding Ukraine and European structures as “offensive and untrue” and expresses "unequivocal support for Ukraine as a country that has been attacked and emphasizes the Senate's conviction that all forms of key support for Ukraine must be continued."
In total, according to its chairman, the Senate passed about 15 resolutions expressing support for Ukraine and outlining the Senate's position on how the Czech Republic should support Ukraine.
He stressed that the Senate also supports Ukraine on its path to European Union membership.
“The path to Europe is not painless. But our efforts must be focused on working on this, talking about what can be done, how we can help, and moving forward, rather than using it as a tool to find reasons why it cannot be done,” said Vystrčil, reminding that Ukraine must fulfill many conditions even in wartime.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Senate of the Czech Republic expressed its support for Ukraine and withdrew from the scandalous statements made by the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Tomio Okamura.
