Zelensky calls meeting with Trump positive
He said this after his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"During any dialogue with any president, I have to defend the interests of my country. That’s why the dialogue, maybe is not simple, but today it was positive, and that is enough," Zelensky said when asked how the talks with Trump went.
He noted that documents related to ending the war are already practically ready, but "the last mile" is very difficult.
"I think our teams worked well, and, you know, I think this is like the last mile, which is very difficult," Zelensky remarked.
He emphasized that during the meeting with Trump he raised the issue of supplying air defense systems to Ukraine.
"You know, like they say in Ukraine: 'Everybody remembers only the last words.' So my last words have been, several times to President Trump: 'Do not forget about air defense, do not forget about Patriot. This is very important for us during this winter,'" Zelensky stressed.
As Zelensky reported on Facebook, during the meeting he and Trump also discussed the work of their teams within the diplomatic process.
"We discussed the work of our teams, and practically every day there are meetings or communication. The documents are now even better prepared," he noted.
As reported, today in Davos a meeting took place between the presidents of Ukraine and the United States, Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump.
