Transnistria extends state of emergency due to gas shortage

Transnistria has extended its state of emergency in the economy due to a gas shortage.

On January 15, the legislative body of the unrecognized PMR approved a decree by Transnistrian leader Vadym Krasnoselsky to extend the state of emergency until February 15.

“The decision was made in connection with the economic emergency and the deterioration of socio-economic indicators caused by the reduction in natural gas supplies,” the Transnistrian authorities explained.

A state of emergency in the economy of Transnistria was introduced on December 18, 2025, due to a reduction in natural gas supplies to the region. According to local media reports on December 15, the decision was made by Transnistrian leader Vadym Krasnoselsky.

Serhiy Obolonik, head of economic development for the region, said that the gas supply problems were related to “a slowdown in settlement operations in the EU.”

As reported by Ukrinform, defensive lines are being strengthened in Vinnytsia region along the border with Transnistria within the Tulchyn and Mohyliv-Podilskyi districts.
