Ukrinform
During Russia’s nighttime attack on Ukraine on January 8-9, Kyiv warned Warsaw about the possible use by Russia of the Oreshnik missile system.

Polish air defense systems tracked the aerial object, Ukrinform reports, citing RMF24.

“The Ukrainians warned us about the threat of these medium-range ballistic missiles. Furthermore, during the Russian attack, Kyiv also provided us with information about this facility,” the outlet reported, citing sources in the Polish military.

According to the report, Polish air defense systems monitored the flight trajectory of the object.

According to the Polish military, during the nighttime attack Russia used around 20 cruise missiles and approximately 30 ballistic missiles, including one hypersonic missile, which was reportedly used to strike the Lviv region.

In response to the Russian attack, Poland’s Operational Command put ground-based air defense systems on alert. This included one Polish Patriot air defense system as well as Dutch Patriot and NASAMS systems stationed near the Rzeszów.
