Valerii Vavryniuk appointed acting Head of Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service

President Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed Serhii Deyneka from his position as Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGS), temporarily assigning the duties of the post to the agency’s First Deputy Head, Valerii Vavryniuk.
The relevant decrees were published on the President’s official website, Ukrinform reports.
The decree reads: “To dismiss Serhii Deyneka from the position of Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.”
A separate presidential decree states that First Deputy Head Valerii Vavryniuk will temporarily perform the duties of the Head of the State Border Guard Service.
Ukrinform previously reported that former SBGS chief Serhii Deyneka was appointed as an adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs. After a brief rehabilitation period, he is expected to be assigned as commander of a combat unit within the State Border Guard Service.
