Zelensky-Trump meeting to be public
The President made this statement while responding to journalists’ questions, as reported by a Ukrinform correspondent.
“I think our meeting will be with cameras and with the media. I do not know whether it will be at the beginning or at the end, but it is a public meeting,” Zelensky said.
According to him, the very fact of this meeting indicates progress in the negotiations.
“Our group — Rustem Umerov, Andrii Hnatov, together with Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff — have already been working in Miami; there were several meetings, and we agreed that if there were progress, there would be a meeting at the leaders’ level. And the fact that tomorrow we will have a meeting in Florida with President Trump indicates that there is progress,” Zelensky said.
Answering a question about what would happen if Russia refused to comply with peace agreements, Zelensky said: “Today we have a bilateral track. We are meeting with the United States of America. We are discussing security guarantees between Ukraine and the United States. This is one document. We are also discussing security guarantees with the European Union. We are discussing the military dimension. This is part of the security guarantees. Fourth, we are discussing the prosperity plan that I mentioned. This recovery plan will encompass various documents. And fifth, what we want to discuss with the President is a plan of sequential actions,” Zelensky said.
According to him, the essence of this plan will be to “propose step by step how to make all these plans actually work.”
“They will certainly discuss all this with the Russians, and we will receive feedback,” the President noted.
As reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that on his way to Florida, where a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump is scheduled, he will stop in Canada to hold talks with European leader.
