U.S. President Donald Trump has said that negotiations to end the war are "getting close to something" and that Ukraine should hurry so that the Russians do not "change their mind."

He made the remarks during an event in the Oval Office on Thursday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"They're getting close to something, but I hope Ukraine moves quickly," he said in response to journalists' questions about talks aimed at ending the war in Ukraine.

At the same time, Trump once again stressed that Ukraine needs to move quickly, saying that every time it delays too long, Russia "changes their mind."

Trump also repeated his familiar claim that 27,000 soldiers are killed each month in the war, adding that he wants to stop it.
