Trump calls settlement of war in Ukraine “difficult situation”

US President Donald Trump has confirmed his administration's commitment to ending Russia's war against Ukraine, while stressing that this is not an easy situation.

He made this statement on Tuesday, December 2, during a meeting of his cabinet, according to Ukrinform's correspondent.

“We're trying to get that settled. I've settled eight wars. This would be the ninth, and our people are over in Russia right now to see if we can get it settled. Not an easy situation,” Trump said.

He reiterated that this war would never have happened if he had been elected president in 2020.

Trump also expressed disappointment that he did not receive the Nobel Peace Prize for “ending” the previous eight wars.

“I should get the Nobel Prize for every war, but I don't want to. I don't want to be greedy,” the White House host added.

At the same time, he said that in reality, he does not care as much as people who are losing their lives.

“Last month, 27,000 young people died, mostly young people,” he said.

As reported by Ukrinform, on Sunday, November 30, a meeting between Ukrainian and American delegations took place in the US regarding a plan to establish peace in Ukraine. Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov said that the Ukrainian-American talks in Florida had resulted in significant progress in promoting a dignified peace and bringing Ukraine's position closer to that of the American side. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called the meeting in Florida productive, but noted that much remains to be done. After that, US President's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner flew to Moscow for talks.
