Territorial issue is most difficult in peace plan negotiations — Zelensky

President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that the issue of Ukrainian territories is one of the most challenging aspects in the negotiations on a plan to end the war. During the Ukrainian-American consultations, this topic was discussed for over six and a half hours.

According to a Ukrinform correspondent, he made this announcement during a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, responding to a question about whether yesterday's meeting between Ukraine and the U.S. had discussed territorial concessions, the demarcation line, and U.S. security guarantees for Ukraine.

"First of all, there were meetings yesterday and today. There were several sessions of meetings, the last ones just ended — about half an hour ago or a little more, when Emmanuel and I joined the negotiators by phone. The meetings are a process; it is not over yet. I will be frank, the territorial issue is the most difficult," he said.

Zelensky expressed his gratitude to the negotiating teams and noted that “the plan looks better.”

"To make it clear: there were six and a half hours of discussions on various issues in different areas. (...) That is, the negotiations are ongoing, the negotiators from the United States have shared their views with us, and they want to share these views with the Russian side," Zelensky said.

The President assured that he would receive feedback from the Ukrainian delegation.

“Tomorrow they will arrive in Ireland and will tell me step by step where we stand in their negotiations,” he said.

Zelensky added that among the sensitive and at the same time triggering issues are the restoration of Ukraine, as well as security guarantees from the U.S. and Europe.

As reported by Ukrinform, on Sunday, November 30, a meeting between the Ukrainian and American delegations on the plan to establish peace in Ukraine took place in the U.S.

NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov stated that the Ukrainian-American talks in Florida had yielded significant progress in promoting a dignified peace and bringing Ukraine's position closer to that of the American side.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio called the meeting in Florida productive, but noted that much remains to be done.
