Chrystia Freeland steps down as Canada's representative for Ukraine's reconstruction
According to an Ukrinform correspondent, the Trust's website states this in an article.
"The Trustees of the Rhodes Trust have appointed Chrystia Freeland as the next Warden of Rhodes House and CEO of the Rhodes Trust," the statement reads.
It is noted that Chrystia Freeland will start her role on July 1, 2026.
Freeland has not yet commented on her future appointment, but the role of head of the Trust requires residing in the United Kingdom.
The Rhodes Trust is an educational charity best known for the Rhodes Scholarship, which offers talented people from across the globe an opportunity to study at the University of Oxford. In the early 1990s, Chrystia Freeland was one of the Trust's scholarship recipients.
Chrystia Freeland was first elected to the Canadian Parliament in 2013 and has been re-elected four times since.
Earlier this year, she was one of the frontrunners in the Liberal Party leadership race following Justin Trudeau's resignation. After conceding to Mark Carney, Freeland joined his first cabinet, but already in September she resigned after accepting the offer to become Canada's special representative for Ukraine's reconstruction.
