On November 7, Ukraine was elected to the UNESCO Executive Board for 2025–2029, receiving the highest number of votes.

According to Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this on Telegram.

“Together with Romania and Moldova, we outpaced Russia: for the second time in a row, Moscow lost the election and will not be part of the Board,” Zelensky said.

He expressed gratitude to the member states that supported Ukraine’s candidacy.

“Together with our partners, we will make full use of the opportunities offered by UNESCO to rebuild life, protect our culture, heritage, and people. We will respond strongly to all forms of Russian aggression, whether open warfare or hybrid threats. There is no alternative to peace. It is time for Moscow to realize this,” the President emphasized.
