DM Shmyhal meets German Minister for Economic Affairs

“A productive meeting with the German delegation led by Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Katherina Reiche. We held a meaningful dialogue with representatives of German energy and defense companies. First and foremost, I thanked Germany for its unwavering support in all spheres. The previously announced assistance package of €9 billion will significantly strengthen Ukraine’s capabilities next year,” Shmyhal noted.
The Minister of Defense outlined to the German delegation the threats Ukraine faces right now and in the coming winter, and emphasized that Ukrainian experience together with German manufacturing capacity can increase the ability to repel Russian attacks. He also stressed the importance of strengthening air defense, supporting the energy sector, and backing Ukrainian manufacturers.
“We discussed with Ms Reiche the next steps for deepening industrial cooperation. Our joint enterprises are showing positive development dynamics, so it is worth increasing the number of such projects,” Shmyhal emphasized, thanking Germany for its steadfast support of Ukraine and its active stance in readiness to defend Europe.
According to Ukrinform, the German Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy arrived in Kyiv on Friday, 24 October.
Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko reported after her meeting with Reiche that Germany has had contributed €60 million to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine. These funds will be used, among other things, for the supply of generators, energy-equipment and mobile thermal power plants.
