Zelensky ready to meet Putin in Budapest

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said during a meeting in Washington on October 17 that he was ready to join U.S. President Donald Trump's upcoming meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Budapest.

The Ukrainian head of state said this in an interview with NBC News, Ukrinform reports.

"If we really want to have just and lasting peace, we need both sides of this tragedy. How can there be some deals without us about us?" he said.

When asked whether he would insist on traveling to Budapest, Zelensky replied that on Friday he told Trump: "I'm ready."

As Ukrinform reported, ahead of his meeting with Zelensky, Trump held a phone conversation with Putin, after which he announced that he would meet with the Russian leader in Budapest "to see if we can bring this 'inglorious' war, between Russia and Ukraine, to an end."
