US considering ways to strengthen cooperation with Ukraine – Zelensky

Ukrinform
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that the United States is considering ways to strengthen cooperation with Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, Zelensky stated in his nightly video address that he held a detailed conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump about energy and the possibility of bolstering Ukraine's air defense.

Zelensky also briefed Trump on the situation in Odesa and other Ukrainian cities and communities.

"President Trump asked about the situation in the capital and our other regions. The world sees what Russia is doing and how it tries to take advantage, while global leaders focus on ending the war in the Middle East," Zelensky said.

He stressed that there is a strong chance the new agreement will succeed.

"The greater the peace and security in one region, the more opportunities it brings to everyone in the world. Ukraine always calls on the world from this very position to support our defense, to support our work here, in Europe, for the sake of security," Zelensky said.

"Unfortunately, Russia is a terrorist that seeks every opportunity to strike harder – especially when global attention is focused elsewhere – even when it is already clear that they in Russia remain the sole, literally last, source of this full-scale war," he added.

Zelensky stressed that Ukraine expects the United States and other partners to continue taking strong action and exerting pressure so Ukrainians feel supported and protected, and the country can endure.

"Today, I received the necessary signals that the U.S. is considering ways to strengthen our cooperation," he said.

He also spoke with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, focusing on Ukraine's needs for air defense and energy support.

"Our PURL initiative is going well, enabling us to purchase American weapons, including missiles for the Patriots. I thank all NATO partners already in the program, and we will be grateful to Canada for expanding its involvement," Zelensky said.

He said he coordinated contacts with other world leaders and, following today's talks, gave specific instructions to Ukraine's military, the Office of the President, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"Results must be delivered," Zelensky said.
