Stefanishyna on Zelensky–Trump meeting: Ukraine found right format for dialogue with U.S.
Olha Stefanishyna, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S., made the statement on television, as reported by Ukrinform.
“I would describe the meeting (between Presidents Zelensky and Trump – ed.) as very substantive, very positive, and, in my view, the most outcome-driven and agreement-filled… I believe we’ve found the format of dialogue that will best support progress,” Stefanishyna said.
She noted that the meeting was “very lengthy” and calm. According to the ambassador, the two presidents engaged in a live, open discussion covering the military situation, battlefield needs, air defense reinforcement, economic pressure on Russia, and other key issues.
In this context, Stefanishyna recalled President Zelensky’s remark that not all details of the meeting can be disclosed at this time.
“Currently, a strong Ukrainian delegation is working in New York for four days. There will be further meetings following the one with President Trump, and several delegations are expected to travel to Washington in the coming weeks to continue working on various issues. We’re also coordinating with our European partners. Not all matters related to ending the war involve direct dialogue with the aggressor. That’s why I remain cautiously optimistic and can confidently say that everything within our power will be done,” the ambassador assured.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, President Zelensky described his meeting with Donald Trump as very constructive and positive, with key topics including the battlefield situation and the decline of Russia’s economy.
