Trump: NATO countries should shoot down Russian aircraft in their airspace
According to a Ukrinform correspondent in New York, Trump made the remarks to journalists during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
When asked whether NATO countries should shoot down Russian planes in the event of airspace violations, Trump replied: “Yes!”
When questioned about any updates regarding communication with Vladimir Putin, and whether he continues to trust the Russian leader, Trump said: "I'll let you know in about a month from now."
The U.S. President also did not give a direct answer when asked whether he plans to provide Ukraine with security guarantees alongside European allies, noting that it is too early to answer this question.
As reported by Ukrinform, the meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy is ongoing at the UN headquarters.
