Zelensky after talks with Rutte: Ukraine informs partners of urgent need for air defense systems and missiles

The president shared this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

"A very detailed conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on the eve of many meetings in New York at the General Assembly, primarily about the need for real protection against Russian strikes. Ukraine has conveyed to its partners the urgent need for air defense systems and missiles, the availability of which could significantly influence events and limit Russia's ability to wage war," Zelensky said.

According to him, the conversation with the NATO Secretary General also touched on the implementation of the PURL program, primarily regarding air defense, which is needed most urgently.

“Mark has begun corresponding communication with other partners,” the president added.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative is a new mechanism focused on supplying Ukraine with weapons from a list of priority needs. It allows NATO member countries to finance the supply of American weapons and technologies through voluntary contributions.

Eleven countries have already joined the PURL program. According to Zelensky, the program's fund has already accumulated USD 2 billion, and in October it may increase to USD 3.5-3.6 billion.
