Budapest has gone so far in its flirtation with the aggressor that it has begun to threaten and violate the rights of members of the Hungarian national minority in Ukraine.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said this in a post on X, according to Ukrinform.

"Official Budapest, in its flirtation with the aggressor, has gone so far as to threaten and violate the rights of members of the Hungarian national minority [in Ukraine]," he wrote.

Sybiha added that the reasons behind Hungary's obstruction of Ukraine's path toward EU membership are now becoming blatantly obvious.

On August 22, the commander of the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert Brovdi (callsign Madyar), announced a strike on a Transneft Druzhba oil pipeline pumping station in Unecha, Russia's Bryansk region.

On August 28, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto stated that the Hungarian government had banned entry into Hungary for the Ukrainian commander because of the attacks on the Druzhba pipeline.

In response, President Volodymyr Zelensky instructed the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry to verify the travel ban imposed on a Ukrainian military commander who is both an ethnic Hungarian and a Ukrainian citizen.

Following this, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry summoned the Hungarian ambassador in Kyiv and handed over a note of protest regarding Budapest's decision to ban entry for Brovdi.
