Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk met with a delegation from the Romanian Parliament, expressing hope that Romanian MPs will play an active role in supporting Ukraine at the international level.

According to the Verkhovna Rada’s press service, as reported by Ukrinform, Stefanchuk thanked his Romanian colleagues for their visit ahead of Ukraine’s 34th Independence Day and for their consistent support in resisting Russian aggression. He emphasized that peace for Ukraine must be just and lasting—with no concessions on territorial integrity.

Key topics discussed during the meeting included cooperation within the framework of the International Crimea Platform, preparations for the upcoming parliamentary summit in Stockholm, and the development of trilateral dialogue between Ukraine, Romania, and Moldova.

"I look forward to the continued active role of Romanian MPs in supporting Ukraine in the international arena,” Stefanchuk stated.

He also highlighted the importance of Romania’s recognition of the 1932–1933 Holodomor as genocide against the Ukrainian people, and stressed the need to ensure that Ukrainian children residing in Romania have access to education in their native language.

As previously reported, on August 20 Stefanchuk held talks with the speakers of the parliaments of Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark to discuss achieving a just and lasting peace for Ukraine.
