Beijing reacts to Zelensky's statement on Chinese mercenaries in Vovchansk sector

This response came from the spokesperson’s office of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following a request from an Ukrinform correspondent in China.

“The Chinese government has issued numerous security warnings, urging Chinese citizens to stay away from conflict zones in other countries and avoid any participation in such conflicts — especially military operations on behalf of any party,” the ministry stated in response to a request for comment on President Volodymyr Zelensky's recent remarks, in which he stated that Ukrainian troops had identified mercenaries from several countries, including China, fighting alongside Russian forces in the Vovchansk sector.

China’s Foreign Ministry emphasized that its stance on the “Ukrainian crisis” — Beijing’s term for Russia’s war against Ukraine — remains “consistent and clear.”

“We are committed to promoting peace talks and an early ceasefire,” the ministry added

As Ukrinform previously reported, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan dismissed as unfounded the allegations that its citizens were involved in the Russian-Ukrainian war.
