Ukraine to open new embassies in Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Panama, Uruguay this year – Sybiha

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said this during the annual meeting of the heads of Ukraine's foreign diplomatic missions, Ukrinform reports, citing the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

Sybiha confirmed the plan to open four new embassies by the end of 2025 in the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Panama, and Uruguay. At the same time, he noted a reduction of Ukraine's diplomatic presence in Cuba, with the resources reallocated to strengthen Ukraine's presence in the region.

Sybiha also announced plans to open over ten new consular offices by the end of this year, including in Romania, Iraq, Italy, Germany, Slovakia, and two each in France and Poland. In addition, the status of Ukraine's consulates in Antalya and Gdansk will be upgraded to general consulates.

On July 21, President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed 16 new ambassadors following a meeting with Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
