Senator Graham on Medvedev's statement: Russia not interested in peace
He made the statement via X, Ukrinform reports.
"Congratulations to Mr. Medvedev for a rare moment of honesty coming from the Russian propaganda machine," Graham wrote.
He thanked the top Russian official for his frank revelation of the true intentions of the Russian leadership.
"I appreciate you making it clear to the world that Putin and Russia are not remotely interested in peace," the Republican senator noted.
According to the BBC Russian service, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev commented on the second round of Russo-Ukrainian talks held in Istanbul.
"The Istanbul talks are not to achieve a compromise peace on the terms of someone's delusion, but to ensure our quick victory and the complete destruction of the neo-Nazi regime," Medvedev said.
He added that this is precisely "the meaning of the Russian memorandum that was published yesterday."
As Ukrinform reported, Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal have co-authored a bipartisan bill in the U.S. Senate that provides for “bone-crushing” sanctions on Russia and the introduction of a 500% tariff on any country that buys Russian energy products.
U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson also endorsed Congress' efforts to impose hard sanctions against the Kremlin.
