Czech FM on Russia's ‘memorandum’: Nazis wanted this in 1938
According to Ukrinform, the minister shared his remarks on social media platform X.
“We're witnessing yet another in a series of Russian ‘peace’ plans. It's the same as all the previous ones – let's not be fooled. Ukraine must surrender, the West give in. Nazis wanted this in 1938, the Kremlin since 2014,” Lipavský wrote.
The head of Czech diplomacy noted that Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin “offers nothing new,” and reiterated that Russia cannot be trusted.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, during negotiations in Istanbul on June 2, the Russian delegation handed Ukraine a version of its “memorandum,” which includes two proposed “ceasefire” scenarios.
According to the first scenario, Kyiv would have to begin a phased withdrawal of its troops from four regions partially occupied by the Russian military: Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson. Ukraine would also have to pull its forces back to an “agreed” distance from the Russian border.
The second scenario, called the “package proposal,” does not explicitly require Ukraine to cede the occupied territories, but includes several conditions: a ban on mobilization and the start of demobilization in Ukraine; a halt to international deliveries of weapons, intelligence, and satellite communications to Kyiv; and the holding of presidential and parliamentary elections no later than 100 days after martial law is lifted.
