Trump claims Zelensky apologized for failed Oval Office meeting

US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff said that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky apologized in a letter sent to Donald Trump after the disrupted meeting in the Oval Office on February 28.

The representative of the US administration said this in a recent television interview, Ukrinform reports citing The Hill.

“Zelensky sent a letter to the president. He apologized for that whole incident that happened in the Oval Office,” Witkoff said in an interview with Fox News, which aired on Monday.

In this regard, a representative of the Trump team called the letter an “important step” that led to progress.

As Ukrinform reported, Steven Witkoff, who holds the position of US Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs, is also a member of the US negotiating team with Ukraine and Russia. He is considered one of the closest associates to President Trump, as he has long-standing acquaintances with him and experience in doing business together.
