European nations must unite to compensate for U.S. aid to Ukraine – French PM

France will work alongside other European states to mobilize all possible resources in order to compensate for the potential loss of U.S. military aid to Ukraine.

French Prime Minister François Bayrou said this during a speech in the National Assembly, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The challenge facing France is very simple. It is to unite all possible means to replace, as much as possible, the international aid that may be cut off," Bayrou emphasized. He added that European nations committed to helping Ukraine must make these efforts.

The French PM highlighted that Ukraine would need ammunition, intelligence systems, and access to networks and communication technologies.

"And while we hope our support will enable Ukraine to hold out, we must also build up Europe's own defense capabilities," Bayrou added.

Earlier, U.S. media, citing a senior official in the U.S. Department of Defense, reported that Donald Trump had ordered a halt to all military aid to Ukraine.

The White House has not officially confirmed any suspension of assistance.

However, on March 4, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that reports of a U.S. aid suspension were reflected in disruptions at the logistics hub in Poland, which serves as a key transit point for foreign military aid to Ukraine.
