Erdogan: “There is no solution without Ukraine and Russia”
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated this during an iftar with ambassadors, as reported by Ukrinform citing Ege Postası.
"While we continue to support Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, we believe that a possible solution cannot be without either Russia or Ukraine," Erdogan said.
He reiterated that Türkiye will maintain its commitment to Ukraine’s territorial integrity while seeking a diplomatic solution.
Erdogan stressed that negotiations and compromise are possible, even amid ongoing war: "We have shown that negotiation and compromise are possible despite the conditions of war. At this point, we are all witnessing how realistic and accurate these approaches are."
He underscored that the path to peace requires direct negotiations between both sides and offered Türkiye's role as a mediator.
"I would like to express that we are ready to provide all kinds of support, including hosting the negotiations, so that not a single innocent person dies," Erdogan concluded.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan emphasized that Ankara hopes the path to peace in Ukraine will begin with an immediate ceasefire, followed by a permanent peace agreement.
