Starmer, Erdoğan discuss war in Ukraine, London summit

This was stated in the UK government announcement, as reported by Ukrinform.

Starmer briefed Erdoğan on his recent visit to the United States and emphasized the importance of international cooperation in supporting European security.

"Discussing the war in Ukraine, the Prime Minister reiterated the UK’s commitment to supporting Ukraine for as long as necessary to deter Russian aggression," the statement read.

It is noted that Starmer is expected to outline his objectives during the European leaders' summit in London on Sunday, March 2.

Downing Street confirmed that the leaders agreed to stay in contact.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, Starmer invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and over ten European leaders to London to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine in the event of a ceasefire with Russia.

Among the invited leaders are representatives from: Germany, Denmark, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Turkey, Finland, Sweden, Czech Republic, Romania

Additionally, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and European Council President António Costa are expected to attend.

Following the recent White House dispute between Zelensky and Donald Trump, Starmer spoke with both leaders, expressing the UK’s unwavering support for Ukraine.
