Agreement with U.S. not involving Ukraine’s debt – Zelensky

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated this during a press briefing, as reported by a Ukrinform correspondent.

"Our government officials assess the final version of the agreement quite positively. They say it can work. I haven't seen the full final version yet — I had a preliminary draft. However, the key issues I raised are reflected quite well. Both the Ukrainian and American teams have done solid work. The most important thing for me was ensuring that we are not debtors, despite some media claims. The agreement does not include a $500 billion debt, nor $350 billion, nor $150 billion. I believed that would have been unfair to us," Zelensky said.

He also emphasized that the Investment Fund for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, which is established under the agreement, will be a partnership between the U.S. and Ukraine.

"We are ready to talk about partnership, and this fund will be Ukrainian-American, not just American," he added.

As Ukrinform previously reported, the document developed by the governments of the U.S. and Ukraine is currently titled the Agreement Establishing the Rules and Conditions of the Investment Fund for the Reconstruction of Ukraine.

On February 26, the Cabinet of Ministers will review the text of this agreement.
