Zelensky says ready to step down if it means peace for Ukraine

Ukrinform
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed his readiness to resign if it leads to peace for Ukraine, or in exchange for the country's membership in NATO.

The Ukrainian leader said this during the "Ukraine. Year 2025" forum in Kyiv on Sunday, according to Ukrinform.

When asked if he would be willing to leave his position if it would result in peace for Ukraine, Zelensky said: "Yes. If it means peace for Ukraine, if you really need me to leave my post, I am ready. Another option is we could exchange this for NATO. If such conditions arise, immediately," Zelensky said.

He clarified that he does not intend to remain in power for decades.

"I am focused on Ukraine's security today, not 20 years from now, and I don't plan to stay in power for decades," Zelensky added.

On February 19, U.S. President Donald Trump called for the need to hold elections in Ukraine.
