Zelensky calls for creation of Armed Forces of Europe

The Ukrainian leader stated this in his speech at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday, Ukrinform reports.

"I believe in Europe. And I am sure you believe too. And I urge you to act for your own sake, for the sake of Europe, the people of Europe, your nations, your houses, your children, and our shared future. For this, Europe has to become self-sufficient and united by common strength, Ukrainian and European," he said.

Zelensky said that right now the Ukrainian army, supported by global aid, is holding back Russia.

"But if not us, who will stop them? Let's be honest, now we cannot rule out the possibility that America might say 'no' to Europe on issues that threaten it. Many leaders have talked about Europe that needs its own military, an army – an army of Europe. I really believe that this time has come that the Armed Forces of Europe must be created," he said.
