Ex-French PM Attal leads parliamentary friendship group with Ukraine

Former French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal has been appointed head of the parliamentary friendship group with Ukraine.

He announced this on social media platform X, Ukrinform reports.

"I am honored to now chair the parliamentary friendship group between France and Ukraine," Attal wrote.

He also added that Ukraine's fight for freedom against Russian aggression is a cause shared by all French people and Europeans.

"Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!" Attal said.

French President Emmanuel Macron appointed Attal as the country's new prime minister on January 9, 2024, making him the youngest head of government in France's history at 34. However, on September 5 of the same year, Macron replaced him with Michel Barnier, tasking Barnier with forming a unity government.
